Modern Day Miracles, What God has done for me?
In my own walk with God, I have been led to Him, not by miracles but by the word of God. There are two sides of the intergalactic war. God can obviously create miracles, and many people, when they see a miracle, think it is automatically from God. Satan and his fallen angels also have the power to do things that look like miracles. In spite of the fact that he cannot create, he can still trick people with miraculous signs.
So I am a little uneasy talking about miracles because many people will believe in a miracle even when what they experienced goes against what the Bible teaches. I know a boy who has seen his dead grandmother who talks to him. Also, sometimes the phone will ring, and its his dead uncle on the phone. The Bible plainly says that dead people do not know anything. It is as if they are asleep. So what my friend has seen and heard is a couple of evil angels that are pretending to be his grandmother and his uncle. In this way, the fallen angels can start teaching him exactly what Satan would have him believe.
So please be careful when hearing about miracles that people tell you about. Test the message of the miracle against the Bible to see if it is from God or from Satan!
God is not just the God of the past.
Some seem to believe that God was very active in the past and we can read about what He did in the Bible. However, most believe that God really does not do things today in the same way that He did for Abraham, Jacob, and Joseph. So when we read of the promises in the Bible, many believe that we can't really depend upon these promises because we will be disapointed if we try.
I believe that it is because of sin that God is not able to do much in our lives. When our faith is such that we would rather die than not follow what God wants, God will then have full control in our lives.
In my life I have been struggling with this very issue. Am I so close to God as Joseph was, that I would rather die than displease Him? Am I holding back on God? or, am I sitting on both sides of the fense. When it seems better that we make a white lie, etc. because we think it will help us.
My goal is to love God with all my heart because God has saved me through His grace. I want to choose to follow God no matter where He leads.
Are You Working for God?
It is my experience that most of the miracles that I have experienced, occur when I am trying to reach others for God. If we selfishly ask for things, even if they are things that we need, and we are not reaching out to people to acquaint them with Jesus; these kinds of prayers don't seem to be answered very well. On the other hand, if we are actively sharing God with others, God will help because we are also learning to help others.
