Why Study Prophecy?
Help, What do we do Now?
We were born into a universe turned upside down through hatred and unrest. A schism has developed between God and a few of His created beings. Unfortunately this schism has escalated into an intergalactic struggle with Satan and his rebels pitted against Jesus and all the agencies of Heaven.
Satan's group may seem inconsequential when comparing it with God and the rest of the universe; However, Satan has made his position much stronger than we might expect by making charges against Jesus and The Father that have shaken the whole created universe to its very foundation. Is God egotistical and arbitrary or is He a loving God and above reproach? The very existence of everything God has made has been put into question by Satan. God must win this war over the question of His character if He and His works are to have any real permanence as a loving entity.
Read the Biblical evidence concerning this war and see how God will win this war against Satan.
We did not ask for it, but it seems that we are at the very center of the war. All eyes are focused on us because the conflict in our lives is to answer the questions concerning God's fairness and righteousness. How does God treat man? Is He fair with each one of us in spite of what Satan is able to cause us to do?
It is, within our minds that the battles of this intergalactic war are fought. Both Jesus and Satan are struggling for the ascendancy in this war, however their methods differ greatly.
From our perspective, we seem to be living on the wrong planet. Earth is the planet of rebellion and it is the place where Satan has chosen to attack God. In his efforts to hurt God and His plan for the universe, he has brought us into the fracas. Whether we like it or not, we find ourselves in the camp of the rebels.
Satan knows he has lost the war. He never really had anything encouraging to say to his fallen angels or to fallen man of a future. There is no future for Satan and his followers. This is why Satan is to become so desperate in the last days when his time runs out.
Yet, in spite of Satan's desperate situation, he doesn't seem to have any problem gaining new followers. As people are born into this world, they seem to flock to his cause.
This is where we are, in the camp of the enemy! The scary part is this, we know that we have been a part of the rebellion since we were born. It is ingrained in us. We know this fact because of the fallen nature that we have. We actually find ourselves choosing the things of Satan rather than the eternal truths of God! Some of us enjoy Satan's temptations with gusto while the rest of us find we are in a loosing struggle against temptation. The primary reason why we fail is that Satan has a hold on us in an area that we like. We actually enjoy what he has to offer us.
So here we are in the camp of the enemy with absolutely no hope of any future at all. Except for the fact that Jesus is more than willing to take us back into His fold. Jesus is our only hope of a salvation that can gain for us eternal life in a universe that is devoid of the hate and corruption that Satan has brought into the world.
Satan however, is not willing to take our possible desertion laying down. Satan counts us as his and he will try to destroy anyone who endeavors to desert his ranks for God. All around us we see the wreaks Satan has made of people. These people could have had unlimited happiness for an eternity, instead, what we see are people who are broken or two faced, many have lost all hope for any future and they are thinking about killing themselves.
We really are in a tight place. However we know that Jesus and His forces are stronger than Satan. We know that Jesus has already sufficiently won this war and that the outcome is absolutely assured. What we now need to do is to join the winning side. The side which bases its whole government on love and righteousness!
Jesus is our Rock of Salvation. He is the one who strengthens us, making our ways perfect and our feet swift. He is also able to take care of Satan as we defect to His cause. He makes our coming to His side possible! Let us defect to the winning side that offers us eternal life in an atmosphere of love and peace! In addition, our God will add a purpose to our lives that will create true happiness which will last forever!
Why would Jesus need to
warn us of what is to come?
Many who sit down to read John's book, The Revelation, for the first time are often surprised to find that the book is not written with an orderly sequence of events. First impressions of this book is usually that of total confusion. Not only are strange beasts, objects, and activities found in Revelation but the organization seems to be jumbled. Even a simple order of events is unobtainable.
Many people have tried to read Revelation but they usually give up. There is also a strong tendency not to open up the book again. After all, if the book is that hard to understand, it must not be too relevant to our immediate future.
Is that true? Is Daniel and Revelation not really relevant in our lives? If we look around us, we must realize that these prophecies are becoming extremely relevant. We hear on the news of religious leaders speaking of leading the populous back to God.
We can also see our freedom slowly eroding away. Especially are our freedoms that allow us to pass out literature and to give Bible studies are being eroded. Other groups are also outraged over this loss of freedom. Unfortunately most of these groups are taking up arms to defend the constitution. We know we have a higher calling, a calling to spread the news of His soon coming.
We can no-longer say that the prophecies do not speak of our immediate future. Very soon now, those who choose to follow all the dictates of God will find themselves in opposition with the rest of the world.
We need to take a hard look at prophecy and everything that God has made available to help us understand His leading.
Now, as you determine whether what I have arranged in the harmony, makes sense, I hope you, too, will see and feel the beauty and excitement that is within these love letters that God has placed in our hands. Many times it is Jesus Himself who has communicated to the prophets.
Jesus absolutely wants us to make it through this time, He would like us to be able to bear His likeness and He also would like us to be effective workers for Him.
To think that God has devoted most of Bible Prophecy for our time, is exciting and sobering at the same time. The realization of His attention to our situation should be prominent in our thinking in order to draw us to Him.
Because prophecy points to our day we know that He loves us more than we can understand. He wants us to survive this time ahead. In addition we should realize that the need of those of us who live through that time will be very great. The information recorded in the prophecies are an absolute necessity for the righteous in the time of trouble. The degree of information that we have, point to the severity of the times that we are to face in the time of the end. Our own need for the very messages found in these prophecies will become much more evident to us as they are progressively understood.
Please learn these prophecies and struggle with God to understand them as well as the God who gave them. It is our privilege to know God through this process. Please learn now to trust in His Spirit and to feel the joy that comes from knowing that you are not alone in the room! We all have a present help in the time of storm!
In this experience just ahead of us, we will need to depend on Him for every problem that comes to us. This experience will thus allow Him to be a part of our lives like He has never been before. I pray that when the impossible needs to be done we will not lose
The Second Coming
Jesus is soon to come and we have good reason to look forward to this event. The second coming of Jesus is the time when we will actually reap the benefits of our defection. No longer will we be jostled about by the enemy with temptations that we have a weakness for; Instead, Jesus will strengthen us and our willpower allowing us to survive for an eternity.
In addition, from that time on, there will be no barrier between God and us. All the problems, misunderstandings, persecution, and actual death and misery that we now face, will be forgotten as God heals our wounds and takes us from this world.
The whole sky will rip open with the glory of God as Jesus comes with both His Father and all the host of Heaven. It seems that no one in Heaven wants to miss this first meeting of God with His people.
As Jesus approaches the earth, the elements will wale and groan, both islands and mountains will disappear as the earth rearranges itself.
It will be unnerving to all those on earth who will see and feel these events. The wicked will cry out for the mountains and rocks to fall on them so they won't have to look into the face of Jesus whom they have rejected.
Even the righteous will cry out in horror that this God of theirs, whom they have depended for strength and protection, might be so terrible in greatness and power that they might not survive the event. Somehow, the presence of God will bore into the consciousness of each person with an awareness of the awful power and righteousness that is approaching them. They know God's presence will destroy and unmake them if God Himself doesn't change them.
This terrible sense of God's presence is what causes the righteous to cry out in alarm: "Who can live when Jesus comes?" This cry is so desperate and so urgent that all of heaven hears it and with an urgent purpose, they hush their voices in awful silence.
As the awful seconds pass by, Jesus looks at His righteous ones on the earth and then calls out to them: "My Grace is sufficient for you".
Can you imagine the relief and joy of the righteous as they realize that eternity with God is theirs? No more will they agonize over life and death situations, seeing friends and family suffer, or to be betrayed by them.
They will no longer be subjected to the temptations of Satan nor will they wonder if they are going to dishonor God by letting Him down. They are fully decided for Christ at this point and God has strengthened them to withstand the presence of God.
This is the reality that the righteous will experience and I don't want to miss out on it. I definitely want to be on the right side! I want to have God's spirit within me and to have my sins forgiven so that when Jesus comes, that I will be completely satisfied and joyous knowing that I am the apple of God's eye! I am sure you want to experience that same joyous event as well!
