God pays special attention to those who shepared God's flock in the wrong direction. Just as Satan will suffer longer because he has caused all the wicked to be lost; Those who do not lead God's people toward God and His word will also suffer longer because they are of the tools that Satan used to lead people away from God. Any kind of unfaithfulness on their part is of concern since it causes people to be lost. In Ezekiel 9, the elders, which receive the punisment first are those who shepared God's flock. In Ezekiel 13 those who have prophecied out of their own heart (they made up the prophecies themselves to lead the people in the wrong direction) so that they would lead the people against God. In Jeremiah 8, we see the scribe as writing falsehood, saying that God will be giving them peace where there will not be peace at all. All the wicked are killed when Jesus comes the second time. So in the following thousand years, the wicked are all dead and they will not be raised to life until after the thousand years are finished. This resurrection is known as the Second Resurrection, the resurrection of the wicked. |
It is hard to determine whether Jeremiah 25 is refering to the slain of the wicked at the second coming of Jesus or later when all the wicked dead is brought up for judgement. It is probably a combination of both times See Section 6.5 for the scripture on judgement. All the other scripture in this section clearly refer to the second coming of Christ, when Jesus comes to pick up His righteous Saints (See Section 5.10) When Jesus comes the second time: All the wicked are killed (See below); The righteous saints are taken to be with the Lord (See Section 6.3); And Satan is locked up in the pit (See Section 6.2). While the Righteous are reigning with Christ for a thousand years (See Section 6.3), the wicked are dead and know nothing. Only after the thousand years are they raised to life (See below). But of course they will be facing a fearful judgement process and altimately the second death which is a permanent death from which they will never awake from (See Section 6.5). |

During the thousand years, there is no one on the earth. From Section 5.9 we see that all the wicked will be killed when Jesus comes. The best two scriptures in Section 5.9 to confirm this point is the following: Revelation 19:21, 2 Thessalonians 2:8 Jeremiah also helps to show that there will be no one left on the earth after Jesus comes. It is interesting that he uses the same words used in the book Genesis to describe the earth. The earth was without form and void. We can see that there are broken down cities, all man is destroyed and the ground is extremely unstable. This is the result of God's fierce anger, and at the presence of the Lord, all this was done! Jeremiah is not speaking of the past, he is speaking of some time in the future, because we see that there are broken down cities and man is disappeared from the face of the earth! The only time this could be, is the 1000 years after Jesus comes. No one is alive on the earth. Many believe that the righteous will reign with Jesus on earth during this time, however, in Section 6.3 we will see that God's people are in Heaven with Jesus, not on the earth. Indeed Jeremiah says that no man will be found on the earth during this time. The earth could very well be the pit that Satan is put in. Some believe that the righteous people will be with Jesus on earth during this time, so they think Satan must be somewhere else. However, no one will be left alive on the earth during the thousand year period. It would be a fitting place for Satan to view the destruction of cities and man and think what he has done. |
