Some think that the Seven Seals and the Seven Trumpets are like the Seven Plaques, and some have made parallel texts that compared these different sets. It is true that there are some similarities.

However, it seems that there is a difference. The plaques are the wrath of God on the wicked. The Trumpets, while some are suffered only by the wicked, it seems that the Trumpets are like the Seals in that God is taking away His protection of our world.

Presently, our world is kept in relatively safety, it is preserved. However, in the time of the end, God will start allowing Satan to do some of the things that he has always wanted to do. Presently, God has been holding back the satanic attack that would have destroyed us long ago. But God has protected us, even the wicked along with the righteous. But at the end, while the righteous will be protected, the wicked will experience an accelerated series of disasters that will seem to be so severe that the wicked may start to realize that their time has come for their destruction.

Opening the First 6 Seals Revelation 6:1-17

As the Lamb opens the seals, things begin to happen on earth. This connection between heaven and earth is strong. As the lamb opens the first seal we see the first man going forth conquering and to conquer. apparently the earth is immersed in war.

When the second seal is broken we see that peace is taken from the world.

The third seal results in famine. Starvation will be a major concern

The fourth seal results in massive death across the earth.

The breaking of the first four seals could very indicated the initiation of the time of trouble. This is the time when we know there will be sudden unrest on the earth.

Especially is the unsettled nature of this evident when the fifth seal is opened. We see that the righteous will be killed for their faith!

The question: "How long?" Indicates time. More time than the righteous want. The time of the breaking of the seals may cover the entire time of trouble.

In verse 11, the righteous are told to rest awhile while others are to be killed as well.

Apparently the Greek could be made to say: rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be threatened with death as they were killed, should be fulfilled."

It is quite possible that the fifth seal is indicating the close of probation.

The sixth seal results in many signs in the heavens: A great earthquake, the sun turns black, the moon turns red, and the stars fall.

At this the people of the world hide from the face of the one on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb.

The end of Chapter 6 Ends with the second coming of Jesus.

4.2 Opening the First Five of the Seven Seals

Revelation 6

Revelation 8

1 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.

2 And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

3 And when he had opened the second seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and see.

4 And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth, and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword.

5 And when he had opened the third seal, I heard the third beast say, Come and see. And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand.

6 And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.

7 And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see.

8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

9 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

11 And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

6th Seal

12 And I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo, there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood;

13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

14 And the heaven departed as a scroll when it is rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb:

17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

7th Seal

1 And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.

2 And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.

3 And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel's hand.

5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.

6 And the seven angels which had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound.
